On a recent viewing, the prospective purchaser asked whether any offers had been submitted for the property.
“Well”, I explained, “our clients have turned down a couple of offers already, but I’m not at liberty to tell you what those offers were.”
“What do you think they’ll accept?”, they asked.
“I’m sure”, I said, “that they would seriously consider an offer at the asking price, or above, but if you’d like to propose a lower figure, I can put it to them.”
This is the gist of their response:
“Really? That’s no use. We viewed a house earlier today that’s on for £220,000 and the estate agent told us the vendors would be lucky to get £200,000 for it…”
This raises a few questions, don’t you think?<
